During the presidential campaign, BC/04 made a lot of noise about Kerry's legislative record in the Senate. The Kerry campaign never countered that effectively but as a long time Kerry watcher I knew, as many others did, that Kerry's best moments in the Senate came in the guise of investigations - particularly the BCCI scandal he blew wide open and his partnership with John McCain to determine if any American POWs remained in Vietnam.
I'm hoping that he's at the start of another successful investigation with this request to the Small Business Administration, asking for details of funds allocated for small businesses diverted instead to fund Bush's 60 city campaign tour to promote the privatization of social security.
The Bush administration hasn't been a role model in its respect for funding allocations as is witnessed in their redirection of over $700m allocated to the fight in Afghanistan to scoping out an invasion of Iraq. I wouldn't be surprised to find that money has been diverted from its congressionally allocated programs to the administration's campaign efforts. If it has then there's a good chance that it's unethical, unprincipled, possibly even illegal. I hope Kerry stays on this.
